1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Clever Products (‘we’, ‘us’, ‘our’) collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal information when you visit or make a purchase on www.cleverproducts.co.za. This policy has been updated to reflect our move into e-commerce, which means we now collect and process personal information directly through the Website (previously this may have been limited to order/enquiry communications).
We are committed to complying with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (‘POPIA’) in how we handle your personal information.
2. Information We Collect
When you browse or make a purchase on the Website, we may collect the following categories of personal information:
- Contact details: name, email address, phone number, delivery and billing address.
- Order information: products purchased, order value, order history.
- Payment information: your initial checkout payment (order total + standard R125 delivery) is processed securely via our third-party payment gateway PayFast. We do not store your full card details on our own systems. Where additional freight applies, this is paid via direct EFT into our business bank account, and we may retain basic proof-of-payment records (e.g., your name and payment reference) for our accounting purposes.
- Technical information: IP address, browser type, device information, and cookies (see Section 6).
- Communication records: emails, enquiries, or correspondence you send us.
3. How We Use Your Information

6. Cookies
Our Website may use cookies and similar technologies to improve your browsing experience, remember your cart contents, and understand how visitors use the Website. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings; however, this may affect the functionality of the Website (e.g., checkout process).
7. Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against loss, unauthorised access, alteration, or disclosure. This includes using a secure, encrypted (SSL/HTTPS) connection for our Website and relying on a reputable, PCI-compliant payment gateway for payment processing.
8. Data Retention
We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes outlined in this policy, or as required by law (for example, financial records may be retained for 5 years in line with South African tax requirements).

We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information without appropriate parental/guardian consent, please contact us so we can delete it.
